Laboratory Analyst

We are looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join our team! A Laboratory Analyst performs water and wastewater sample collection and laboratory analysis to help ensure our water and wastewater treatment operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate for this role is organized, detail-oriented, and has strong prioritization skills. Day to Day: 

  • Lab Analysis: Perform microbiological, chemical, biochemical, nutrient, and physical analyses on drinking water, wastewater, and surface water samples. 
  • Field Work: Collect samples and various parameters from District sites and waterways.  Deploy and quality control (QC) check data loggers. 
  • Data & Reporting: Record test data, perform calculations, and enter results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); create reports and support regulatory data submissions. 
  • Equipment & Maintenance: Prepare reagents, solutions, and media; calibrate and maintain lab equipment such as pH meters, titrators, and incubators; keep the lab clean, organized, and safe. 
  • Customer Service & Compliance: Provide consultation to internal and external customers on regulatory compliance; respond to inquiries from the public and other agencies. 
  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Laboratory Analyst I requires a minimum of three years of experience performing laboratory analysis. Relevant college coursework or a bachelor's degree in a scientific field may substitute for some or all of the experience requirement. 
  • Certification: Laboratory Analysts must possess, or obtain within one year of employment, a State of Colorado Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection, or Wastewater Treatment certification (any level). 
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry principles and laboratory analysis techniques (microbiological, chemical, biochemical, and nutrient testing) preferred. 
  • Communication & Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, coworkers, and regulatory agencies. 
  • Must be 18 years or older. 
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of employment and be insurable under District standards. 
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first two years of employment. 

Schedule 

This role will work Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. 

Salary Range 

There are three levels of Laboratory Analyst with different titles and pay ranges depending on certifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The District will support you in earning your licenses. Pay range and title depend on certifications and experience. Starting range depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range. Pay ranges for each level are as follows: 

  • Laboratory Analyst I: $32.11 – $44.96 
  • Laboratory Analyst II: $35.41 – $49.56 
  • Senior Lab Analyst: $37.18 - $52.05
