What’s the deal? The Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is looking to hire a GIS Coordinator that’s going to take us to the next level. This role will work within the Planning and Water Resources Department and will be the driving force to keep our mapping practices on the cutting edge to serve our stakeholders and community. This is a great role for an experienced GIS professional with strong communication and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and have a strong customer service mentality. The focus for this role will be on bringing our GIS databases together to analyze our data and deliver great insights and a great user experience.

The Schedule:

This position is expected to work a hybrid schedule, working on-site at least 3 days per week.

The Day to Day:

  • Aligns with Planning and Water Resources Manager on work priorities.
  • Serves internal customers from many different Departments – from Ops to Engineering to Wastewater.
  • Utilizes ESRI GIS applications – ArcPro, ArcMap and ArcCatalog to:
    • Configure ArcPro or ArcMap for Data View, Layout View, and Printer Settings
    • Load and organize GIS Layers
    • Create and Edit GIS Features
    • View and Edit Attribute Data
    • Join Tables and Export Data
    • Georeference TIFF files (rubber sheeting)
  • Uses ESRI GIS Tools to process, analyze, and organize data.
  • Builds GIS Tools for reoccurring tasks.
  • Extracts and attaches raster data to vector features.
  • Performs basic analysis using raster data.
  • Uses Remote Sensing, including Aerial Imagery, Lidar, and Classification, to enhance maps, elevations, and assign surface type classification.
  • Administers GIS servers, software, and databases.
  • Uses survey data to update GIS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Big Picture:

  • Organizational Support: Maintain strong relationships with all departments to assist with GIS needs.
  • Data Analysis and Coding: Knowledge of GIS data, data cleaning, analysis, and reporting. Ability to design data models, link data sources, and conduct in-depth analyses to aid day-to-day operations. Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI Dashboards preferred.
  • Continuous Learning: Keep current with new technologies and industry standards to deliver a better user-experience for our internal customers.

Qualifications and Competencies


Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Engineering, Land Surveying, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.


Six (6) years of full-time experience utilizing ESRI ArcGIS application suite and tools, with a minimum of four (4) years of GIS project management experience.

In addition to the above, GIS certificates are a preferred qualification.

Hiring Range:

The pay range for this role is $74,326.30 - $104,052.62 annually. Starting salary depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
